NDSC Squad Structure
NDSC offers a structured teaching programme, and squad training grouping swimmers by age, ability, and commitment. Progression is based on many factors, including technical skills, strength, commitment, and ability.
Teaching
Teaching Programme: Offers learn-to-swim lessons, preparing swimmers for entry into the squad system.
Junior Squads
Development & Academy: Focus on progression of skills in all 4 strokes, turns, and underwaters, in preparation for competition. There are opportunities for internal competitions and timings, and for those that are ready, external level 3 and 4 competitions.
Competitive: First competitive squad, emphasizing endurance, technique, and land training. Regular competition expected.
Senior Squads
Performance & Advanced Performance: For committed swimmers, with progression based on ability and dedication.
Mixed Ability Squads
Pathway: Suits swimmers opting for less intensive training than the competitive squads.
Masters: Open to all adult swimmers (novice to competitive) able to swim, with no specific entry criteria. Competes successfully in Masters events.
