Newbury Triathlon: Members Past and Present in the Mix
NDSC had a large contingent of past and present members tackling 300m of swimming, 22km of biking, and the 5km run at the Newbury Triathlon last Sunday (7/9/25).
With nearly 400 competitors racing, our members had a long wait for their starts, as the fastest seeded swimmers were starting last. The final heat of the race was to be a bit of a battle royale between a group of current and ex NDSC swimmers.
While Ethan Kuijten comfortably won that battle (securing 1st U23 and 5th overall), the remaining group of Olive Muir, Chris Emberlin, Reiss Smith, and Amos Fitch all finished the 1hr+ long race within a minute of each other! Olive winning the female U23 category and 2nd fastest lady overall, while Chris, Reiss, and Amos placed 5th, 6th, and 7th in the open U23 category respectively.
Other notable performances from Masters swimmer Stephen Harrop, who had a strong swim to set himself up for a fantastic top-third position, a relay win from ex-club members Liv, Kaleb, and Jonah, and a return to triathlon for NDSC mum Faye Williams! Great racing by all.
Thanks to Luke Muir for the report
